One Week! One Cause! ALL the Difference!
You might be a fresher or a non-fresher, your diary for this year might already be jam-packed or it might be dwindling, you might be a die-hard ISocer or the Islamic society might not exactly be your cup of tea, whichever category you fall under Charity Week for Orphans and Needy Children is definitely for you.
What is Charity Week for Orphans and Needy Children you ask? Well, it is your opportunity to play a hand in helping out those less privileged than yourself. How? By working with students at UCL and competing with students from other schools and universities, to raise the most money for children in different parts of the world like Somalia, Ethiopia, Kashmir, Palestine to name a just few places children are living to survive.
When did it all start? Back in 2004 the idea of Charity Week (CW) was born, and so a hand full of students from London universities started working on this crucial task. From that day onwards up till now Charity Week has mashAllah grown bigger and better, with more and more students from universities and schools across not only London but also the UK taking part. With over more than £100,000 raised over the last five years orphanages have been opened, schools have been built, orphans sponsored, Eid gifts given, earthquake victims helped and much more has been done mashAllah.
Now you too can play a hand in the lives of many down and trodden young ones. Come along and help us make this year’s Charity Week even more spectacular than ever, inshAllah. Whatever skill, talent, art you possess we can make use of it. If you think you have a way to raise money and awareness about the plight of the orphan and needy child then a platform is already available for you. Do a sponsored walk/ hair cut/ (fill in the blank), bake a cake, plan an X-Box match, auction goods, bungee jump, paint, sing, run, talk people into donating, it is your call (as long as you keep it halaal); CW is nothing with out its volunteers, therefore come along and show us what you have got!
Are you in? If you are then send us an email or speak to one of our members at the fresher’s stalls.
