There are many stereotypical images of the life of a Muslim; of women covered and oppressed, of men with long beards and extreme views. But is this really the life of your average Muslim? Well here’s your chance to find out!
UCLU Isoc is giving you the opportunity to understand what the life of a Muslim entails and follow in their footsteps for one week, from experiencing the serene prayer which brings a heart’s content in the daily life of a Muslim, through to a viewing of 'the Fog is Lifting' bringing a better understanding of all aspects of Islam.
In the Footsteps of a Muslim presents a series of events exclusively for participants to join us on a insightful understanding of what Islam is in its true light, meals and refreshments provided at events.
Introduction to Islam, Tuesday 19th January, 4pm-6pm, South Cloisters
An opening session on what the message of Islam encompasses, from its pillars to its fundamental creed. This session welcomes everyone to come and meet and join Muslims for an informal chat...you will also be paired up with a Muslim buddy for the week!
A Serene Prayer, Wednesday 20th January
Visit to London Central Mosque, 2pm, meeting at the main quad
Come along to the tour of a grand mosque at London Central Mosque situated in Regents Park, where you can have an insight into the importance of the Mosque in prayer and in the Muslim life.
'The Fog is Lifting: Islam in Brief' Public Viewing'
Thursday 21st January, Anatomy JZ Young LT, 5pm-6:30pm.
Join us in watching this enlightening and entertaining documentary which has been internationally recognized for providing much needed light on the Islamic culture and values.
Special Friday Prayer, Friday 22nd January, 1pm.
A unique gathering in the weekly life of a Muslim. We will have a special sermon and prayer. This is your chance to witness the unity and brotherhood of the Muslims!
