Muhammad

His life based upon the earliest sources.

By Martin Lings(Abu bakr siraj ud deen)

In the name of Allah (to whom all praise belongs) the All-Merciful, Companionate.

In days filled with course work, course work and yes more course work, picking up this book was definitely one of the few joys of my day. The thing which I most liked about the book is that you get a sense of being with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessing be upon him) and the early Muslims, sharing their pains, their joys and their hardships to establish Islam. This feeling has to be attributed to the excellent storytelling nature of the author.  You also really do get a feel of the Prophet’s (may Allah's peace and blessing be upon him) personality which I guess makes you reflect upon your own self and what your perception is amongst others, as the book beautifully says “A parallel imperative cause for accepting the new religion was the Messenger himself, a man who was, they were certain, too full of truth to deceive and too full of wisdom to be self-deceived.”

This was a book which I could have read 100 times and still extracted valuable lessons to implement in my life. All in all I would say is that the book has been given the thumbs up and I would recommend all to read and ponder upon the story of the greatest man that ever lived, told through the words of Abu bakr siraj ud deen.
